If you have ever been told you can not naturally reduce or shrink a dog lipoma and surgery is the only option, this is for you.

The truth is you CAN shrink lipomas! I know a benign fatty tumor can shrink because I saw my dog’s lipoma shrink to almost nothing.

Since writing my last blog, 2 part dog cancer blog, I have learned some new information from a pet health seminar that you may have never heard of before!

Why should you believe me?

Look at my cancer blog, do you see a lipoma on my dog, the black lab? I’m guessing no because it was impossible to see and sometimes I had a hard time finding it by touch. Yet I know how big they can grow as I saw my furry friends grow (German Shepherd Mix in pic).

How did I shrink my dog’s benign bump? I gave my dog the supplements and herbal remedies listed below AND I changed his food to stop a dog lipoma from growing. We both received good results applying these methods as they helped me shrink my dog’s lipoma and I dissolved my breast cysts.

Dog lipomas are a non-cancerous lump

Lipomas are fatty growths or masses also known as benign tumors or non-cancerous bumps. For many dogs, they may not appear until later in life. However, I have known a dog who had a lipoma at 2 years old.

The bigger question is why are lipomas becoming so prevalent now when it was not years ago or even seem normal and acceptable. Here I will discuss the causes and how to shrink or prevent lipomas.

Why you should NOT surgically remove a dog lipoma

At the first sign of a lump and bump, go to the vet to have it checked. A physical exam will likely be done first. If they want to test your dog’s lipoma, they may aspirate the lipoma. Aspiration is a simple procedure where they insert a needle in the lipoma to draw out some fluid for testing.

I do NOT recommend letting them cut your dog, biopsy it, or do surgery right away. The ONLY time surgery should be done is if it poses a health issue! Furthermore, some vets and dog owners have reported that after the lipoma has been removed, another lipoma or several more appear.

Why is that? I think of tumors like weeds in the respect that if you don’t change the environment, they will come back.

What causes canine lipomas?

Vets who look at pet health from a holistic point of view believe lipomas appear because of all the chemicals they are exposed to from vaccines, processed food, and environmental toxins. Also, some veterinarians have associated microchips with lipomas. Yes, microchips have been found directly under lipomas, and ingredients from vaccines have been found in lipomas and tumors. I know of an instance of a dog having a tumor removed only to find out it contained a foxtail.

Reduce toxins to decrease your dog’s chances of benign tumors

I covered this in my cancer blog in good detail. A quick summary is to remove as many toxins as possible. A few ways to accomplish this are to give your pets filtered water to remove things like arsenic, utilize pet-friendly cleaning methods, buy lead-free pet bowls and use a chemical-free flea treatment. Removing toxins like heavy metals takes time and is a multi-step approach!

1) Outdoor chemicals: While we can’t control all chemicals like the ones that are sprayed in the air or those that come to your property because of neighbors using them, we can do a few things to protect our pets.

1b. If it’s possible try to learn the schedule of when the community will be spraying so you can keep your pets indoors and out of any areas that have been freshly sprayed.

1c. Limit the time you allow your pets to walk on community grass. For example, I taught my dog “potty or off.” When you bring your pet(s) inside, you can wipe them down or soak their feet to reduce some of the chemicals they may have picked up during their walk or roll in the grass. *I have seen clients’ dogs chew their paws after walking on the grass. Not everyone has a bowl or washtub designated for paw soaking so I have used a wet paper towel to wipe their dog’s paws. This has always reduced or completely stopped their chewing.

2) Clothes: as it turns out many of our clothes are treated with chemicals like formaldehyde and other cancer-causing chemicals. This makes me believe it’s possible for our pet’s shirts and sweaters may be as well. Even if your pet does not wear shirts, your clothes could be a source of exposure. I wash everything before I wear it.

3) Furniture and bedding: Buying a non-toxic pet bed is important because cat beds and dog beds can contain up to 70 chemicals, dog blankets should be washed before using with eco-friendly laundry detergent. For furniture, try to buy it without stain repellants, air it out before bringing it inside, wipe down furniture, and put a blanket over it.

3 herbal remedies that reduce lipomas

As a reminder, I suggest certain brands because many products are not made with quality ingredients OR have counterproductive ingredients (Ex: natural flavor). This company ships quickly. One customer got her products from the West Coast to the East coast in 2 days!

1) This herbal supplement helps slow down the growth of lipomas, gets rid of UTIs, and assists with Addison’s, *studies show it helps lower blood pressure and LDL (bad cholesterol), improves heart function and increases flexibility. Dosing instructions: if you can not get your pet to take this remedy orally, you can put it in their fresh-cooked dog food.

2) This herbal remedy contains several ingredients that help slow the growth of lipomas, is helpful for arthritis, and oral health, and is an anti-viral that will help prevent the dog flu aka canine influenza! Dosage guidelines are on the bottle. Update Jan 2018: Turmeric is one of the multiple ingredients in this remedy. Turmeric is the most common recommendation by 30+ holistic vets for cancer. Also, I tried this remedy myself and it doesn’t taste bad at all. I thought I would share in the event anyone was worried their pet would not take it.

3) This herbal remedy is anti-viral, helps the immune and lymphatic system, and last but not least can be given orally and/or applied topically to lipomas.

*Caution: This is not a pet-specific version. As I continue to look for one, PLEASE NOTE you should NOT follow the label for dosing instructions. To learn how to calculate a proper dosage for dogs or cats here is the formula along with an example calculation for you to practice. For topical applications, there is no amount given. I’m running my own experiment and can tell you one to two drops go a long way.

5 vitamins that may lessen fatty tumors or benign lumps in dogs

A good nutritional foundation will boost your pet’s immune system which should help prevent lipomas from forming or stop them from getting larger. They are listed in order of importance.

1) Vitamin C is helpful in preventing and fighting lipomas is essential for wound healing, is good for heart health, and eyesight, and cleanses the lymph system, blood, and liver.

2) Blue-green algae is rich in bio-available nutrients, iron, and a source of protein. It pulls out toxins that may be contributing to tumors and eye issues. It is anti-cancerous and helps skin and nails. Finally, it may stop your pet from eating grass (one customer reported that worked for her dog in the comments below). For best results, this algae works best WITH #3 green juice.

Dosage: 1/8 tsp per 10 lbs with a maximum daily dosage of 1/2 tsp for a 70 lb dog. Add directly to food or make a “green drink” as seen in my pet liver detox blog. REMINDER: start slow to make sure they like it and no “reactions” occur. Tip: I add a little bit of coconut water to make it more palatable and it is supposed to give it an extra “boost.” Fyi: not all coconut water tastes the same, I like this coconut water. CATS: I confirmed with a vet that cats can have blue-green algae too!

2b. This is a dog-specific algae Bonus: If you have used several of his holistic dog products and are seeing good results, you can enter to win a monthly contest to win free products. Dosage is included on the label.

3) “Green juice” takes ahold of other toxins not grabbed by #2 and expels them from your pet’s body. It is high in chlorophyll, also helps with gut health, and can aid with digestion, bad breath, and kidney issues. Introducing “greens” to your dog or cat, and addresses any deficiencies. Administration: You can add some water to make a drink or add it to their food.

4) B-12 Helps with anxiety, heals the neurological system, aids in recovery from physical injuries, and is great for thyroid health. 1 drop by mouth

5) Melatonin: It helps slow the growth of tumors. FYI: I looked at 10+ pet supplements and they all had ingredients I didn’t like. This is a low-dose “human” version, it is a capsule so you can easily dump it into food if they don’t take supplements easily. Dosage: *Consult your vet as it will be based on your dog’s weight and if you are using it for other health conditions.

Keep in mind that this did not happen overnight and will not go away overnight. Consistency will be key!

In part two, I will discuss diet which is equally as important. Foods to take out and add to your dog’s diet, herbs, and spices are known to shrink or prevent lipomas.

If you are looking for another product not listed here, I have a blog with other pet herbal remedies, or for other pet items check out my healthy pet products page!

Is there a specific herb that will shrink fatty tumors that are about a size of a penny???

  2. Kim

My dog’s 13 years old has a large lympo on her chest. I found some chinese herbs that worked for us.

    1. Sheila

What did you use? My dog has a large one on his chest too.

  3. Candice

Thank you for the thorough article. I noticed that the links have expired and currently the products are not available on Amazon. Have you gotten them anywhere else? Thanks!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Thank you for the compliment. I checked several links and they are working for me. Can you be more specific?

  4. Ally

Thank you very much for this brilliant article it is very helpful. What can help with a dog’s mammary tumour to help heal her? I’m hoping to find more options before agreeing going ahead with surgery as I would prefer to heal her without an operation if possible. Thank you

I could not refrain from commenting. Exceptionally well written !

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

      Thank you so much!

Hello, I’ve never seen how to apply herbal remedy number 3 topically. How much do I put on? Do I need to dilute it with anything? Is it more beneficial to give it internally?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I have answered this for you several months ago, in case you missed it.

  7. Leslee

Sirena has been walking my dog for a few years and noticed that my dog was eating a lot of grass. She suggested that I try mixing blue algae and green juice powder and put it in my dog’s food on a daily basis.

After a month of daily doses my dog no longer craves eating grass. In addition, she has a much shinier coat and seems to have more energy.
My dog prior to having Pepper had lipomas and although they were not cancerous, I am doing everything I can with Pepper’s diet to prevent them. Hopefully these powders along with a grain free diet will prevent these tumors.

  8. Edwina Davis

I have notice that this lipoma on my dogs leg gets bigger when she gets
fat such as coconut oil or flaxseeds. Is there any suggestions for omegas in this situation

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

That is interesting. How long have you ever gone without these? I would not turn to a fish based oil.

    2. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Recently I learned leafy greens, like lettuce or spinach, are a plant-based form of omega 3. They also help the liver, which most dogs could use a liver detox. Tips: on my Instagram.

  9. Che'

‘m confused with the third herbal remedy because it says 1 drop for every 2lbs of body weight twice a day if taken internally, what about the dosage when applied topically? I’ve read through your blog plenty of times if you could please state the dosage guideline for applying topically. Also do you apply it topically and internal or is it one or the other?

  10. Che' K

For the first and third herbal remedies, should I do this once a day or how many times dailey?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Dosage guidelines are stated in the blog.

  11. Che'

Thank you so much for time and for putting this blog out there. You can’t find much when it comes to this. I’ll let you know how everything goes.

My 14 year old red nose pit has had this lipoma on his left front ankle and has quickly grown to the size of a baseball. It’s starting to get in his way of walking. I have him on a grain free dog food and filtered water. My question is with the blue green algae and or the green juice. How do I feed him these? Can I put the ammount into capsules?

My 14 year old red nose pit has had this lipoma on his left front ankle and has quickly grown to the size of a baseball. It’s starting to get in his way of walking. I have him on a grain free dog food and filtered water. My question is with the blue green algae and or the green juice. How do I feed him these? Can I put the ammount into capsules? Also I seen you started with small amounts to see how it goes before you see results. Other question is once I notice one is doing good can you give him all 3 supplements and all 3 vitamins at once?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I either put the algae and green juice in his food or I put the powders in his bowl with a bit of coconut water to make a “green drink.” Capsules, I’m sure you could put the powders in the capsule. The other supplements and herbals, I always had 1 or 2 at a low dose, waited a few days to see if he was tolerating them well and then increased the dosage slowly. Once that was established he was doing well on the first few, then I added in other supplements using the same method. **Sometimes, added too much “good” too fast can have a bad reaction. Not b/c they are allergic but it is pushing the body too fast and can make people or dogs, in this case, feel sick. I DO suggest you buy several at one time but wait for implementing. Why? I found over and over that people who only buy 1 or 2 forget about the rest. Meaning they forget there was other things they needed to do.

      1. Che'

So do you put the powder algae and powder green juice right into his food with just the powder?

When you do the first dosing do you only dose once then wait a few days or do you keep dosing the few days your waiting for the result?

If they are all doing good you can use all these at the same time?

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

          Yes. Everyday. Yes.

        2. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

The vitamin c link has been fixed.

          1. Che'

You said that the dosage for herbal remedies number 1 had the dosage for dogs and cats, so just go off of the directions for use from the bottle which is 20 to 30 drops?

  14. Alison Marquez

Hello I have a 1 year old German Shepard. He’s had a softball sized lipoma on his back for months now. By time it keeps growing and was told surgery was going to be super expensive which I can’t afford and I’m scared he’ll grow it back. He is one of the few young pups to get a lipoma for his age, I really need help. What is the best herbal solution you recommend?!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

All 3 herbals remedies in part 1 are important. If money is an issue, focus on the foods to take out and add in. It may be helpful to you to read the comments in both part 1 and part 2 of this blog. You will see some people comment on what they have done and their progression.

  15. Jeanette

What kind of castor oil do you use is it the one for skin

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

      I never used castor oil.

  16. Julie Reusser

Hello, very interesting stuff here. I have a 9 year old golden that is pretty overweight. I have her on strict diet in Hope’s to help with her fatty tumors. She has them all throughout her body. Some are small like a quarter and she has one bigger than a golf ball. They don’t seem to bother her but they sure do make me nervous. Where should I start? I just bought a turmeric supplement for her that’s supposed to help with her joints and hips. Her back legs are both pretty weak since she had a surgery when she was four and never fully recovered. Thank you for all this info. It’s good stuff. Also, do you have any recommendations for dog warts?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

All 3 herbal remedies in part 1 of this blog are important. Also take out the “no” foods and add in the anti-tumor foods listed in part 2 of this blog.

  17. Cj Adams

Hello, I’m looking for something to help with my dogs fatty lump. She had one on her neck about 4 years ago and they did surgery to remove it. Now she has one on her back. Which she opened it and it’s bleeding. I don’t want to do surgery because of her being an older dog.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I have no other new suggestions. The information included in this 2 part blog and in the comments is all I can suggest.

  18. Zen

    Hello,
I just noticed a small soft mass under his front left leg. I am a bit confused as to what I should give my dog to get rid of it. He is 7 years old & a rescue. The vet said he has a pre disposition to kidney problems ?. Please help.
    Zen

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

#3 in the herbal remedies should be fine since it is topical. The algae and green juice in part 1 supplements, should be okay. I have a cat client who has had renal disease for years, she started these supplements a few months back and is doing well on them. Try focusing on part two of this blog to see if that helps stop the growth. Veggies like celery and cucumbers are helpful for the kidneys. If you feed your dog meat based treats, try removing them and trading them for treats like fresh dog safe fruit or healthier dog treats.

  19. Kristi

Hello, I have an 11 year old miniature schnauzer who has lipomas/cysts in many different places. The one that I am most concerned about is on his inner thigh as it is growing so large I am afraid it will start to interfere with his urination. The vet said that because it is so intertwined with his leg muscle that they would need to amputate his leg to remove it. I will not put him through that. I have recently started giving him filtered water and he has been getting algae for a couple of years (biopreparation). Which of the other supplements would you recommend trying next? I do not have time to cook his meals. Do you have a dry dog food you would could recommend? Thank you for your help.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

The 3 herbs listed on my blog, the most important is #1 taken by mouth or internally and 3 which can be applied topically. The supplements: 1-3 are the most important. You are already doing the #2 by using the bioprep but #3, aka: green juice, works with the bioprep to remove toxins. In regards to food, I have them linked on this page. *Please read my note / reason why I picked certain brands.*

      1. Kristi

Thank you for your response. I bought number 1 and number 3. How much do I give internally and how do I use it externally? My dog is 30 lbs. thank you.

      2. Kristi

Hello! How do you suggest using the herb number 3 externally and how much? thank you

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

The internal dose guideline, as per dog herbalist, is 1 drop per 2 lbs body weight. Externally/topically: Everything I have come across only states it can be used topically but there are no specifics as to how many drops or how often.

  20. Annie

Thank you so very much for the excellent, informative, helpful, thoughtful and dedicated website. Animal lovers unite!

I had a question, my terrier chihuahua mix had enlarged lymphomas (legs, neck and chin), that were classified as non-cancerous. I want to try these alternative therapies though, because the Doxy didn’t work. Prednisone did work to shrink the limpomas, but I hated the effects it had on my sweet 11 yr. old rescue.

My question is (please everyone feel free to weigh in): do we use all these therapies at once/how do we space them out?

Lastly, I know echinacea is for use when one is just starting to get sick. If the dog already has enlarged lymph nodes, is it too late to use echinacea?

God bless all animals and animal advocates, lovers and protectors!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Hi Annie. I have a free moment so if you could reply back asap that help me help you. You wrote lymphomas but did you mean large Lymph nodes?

    2. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

If you meant lymph nodes vs lymphoma, here are some suggestions. 1) Buy the 1st herbal supplement for his lipoma, this is essential! 2) supplements 1-3 vitamin C, algae and “green juice” can help with both the lipoma and enlarged lymph nodes.
Food: take out the no foods in Part 2 of this blog and Add in cucumbers, You can juice it like I mentioned when talking about celery juice or can be eaten uncooked as a snack or worked into your dog’s meal. If you juice it, only give your dog a tsp to see how it is tolerated. FYI: juice is absorbed much faster than if the food is eaten in its natural form (with the pulp).

  21. Leslie

Hello, just bought all three herbal remedies that you had listed….first one to arrive is the selfheal….it states to water or juice…but if I put a dropper full in her water….it may sit for a while, don’t know if that is optimal..can I administer in her food?..She currently eats Taste of the Wild grain free…kibble..I add warm water. What are your suggestions? 6/7 year old female Stafford pit mix…thanks, Leslie

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I never administered it in water, my dog let me put the drops in his mouth (I did it when he was laying down, lift his lip and add drops withOUt letting the dropper touch his mouth so I was not “contaminating” the herbs). In my opinion, I think a full bowl of water would either dilute it too much or she wouldn’t get the dosage needed b/c it would sit. If you can time it when she would normally drink, let’s say after a walk, put the drops in a small amount of water, say 2 ounces. If that doesn’t work and she is food motivated than put it with her food.

  22. Stef

I have a 5 year old Dachshund, he’s had 2 surgeries to remove a very large lipoma that’s growing under his muscle on his left side. It grew back both times before he was even finished healing… I am not going to put him through another surgery, it’s clearly not the answer. I do have an appt tomorrow with the vet because it’s causing some noticeable discomfort. He is my emotional support dog and means the world to me. I will try anything! Please help me, I don’t know where to begin with this. But would like to go to this vet visit better informed. Thank you so so so much!!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I’m sorry to hear your dog’s lipomas came back after surgery. I understand this is a lot to take in. Have you read part 2 about the foods to eliminate? In my case, I immediately eliminated the NO foods, added the yes foods and then slowly added supplements and herbal remedies such as #1-2 herbals and vitamin 1-5 with the 1-3 being the first ones added.

      1. Stef

Because Jasper has stomach issues, he has to eat prescribed food. He’s been eating that for about 3 years. I’m afraid to take him off of it because I have slowly tried in the past cause I’m big on all natural foods and it resulted with him not being able to poop. And when he did, it’s be inside. His belly gets upset very easily.

      2. Laura Severino

My small dog is 12 yrs old. Her lipoma grew so fast this year is the size of a softball. It’s not interfering with her life but I’m scared of how big it has gotten. I heard horror stories about dogs that do not make through surgery. How can I make it smaller after this growth?

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Have you tried any of the suggestion in this two-part blog?

    2. Ashley Hessler

I am in the same position. 2 surgeries and now wrapped around psyatich nerve.

  23. Eva

Hi, my dog has lipoma, so I decided to try your diet . He’s been on all supplements for some time now ( approximately 5 months) but the tumour hasn’t shrink at all. And today I discovered another lipoma on his chest. I really do not want to put my dog through the surgery, so I would like to ask how long does it take to see some effects of those herbs and supplements?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Each dog will be different in how long it takes because it is dependent upon their health and the consistency of what you’re doing. Could you please describe what you are doing as far as the Herbal Remedies, supplements, food do’s and don’ts and any of the other suggestions I’ve made in this two-part blog?

      1. Eva

Thank you for your reply. I cook meals for him , it consists of lamb’s and beef harts , sometimes with liver ,and vegetables , mixed with either rice or buckwheat. He also gets filtered water. With his food he will get the drops . In the morning pau darco and in the evening prunella vulgaris with olive leaf. And in the evening he would also get a some of the home made yogurt with green algae or with barley. Every day he gets a vitamin C and B12 . But because I live in UK I cannot get exact the same brands of the supplements that are on your page, so i’m trying to use what is available on the market but i’m just not sure if that is enough. I mean the lipoma on his leg has not grown any bigger since he’s been on the diet , I would even say it stopped growing. Recently I discovered another one on his chest which was difficult to see as it hides when he’s up, so possibly he could have it for some time.
I’m just concerned if the diet will work with different brands of supplements .

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Thank you for the details. I have a few suggestions as to how to “tweak”. your regime to see if it helps. If it were me, I would remove the yogurt and buckwheat. Also, I have stayed away from onions. If you try greens like spinach or kale, don’t cook them as they are best fresh. If you can’t get the exact brands, make sure the herbal remedies are alcohol-free!

          1. Eva

Ok , I will do that , thank you for advice and time.

      2. Eva

I forgot to add everything is cooked with tumeric and a herbs ( rosemary, thyme, oregano , parsley or dill ) ( veggies: carrots, parsnips, onion, garlic, beetroot) .

    2. Angie

I recently did the simple thing of switching my dog’s water to filtered water with the faucet filter and I changed nothing else. I swear in a few days I noticed her lipoma shrinking. I was on here wondering if there was any mention of water.

      1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Filtered water is suggested in this post as our water contains many chemicals. 🙂

  24. Erica

Thank you so much for this blog! I have a 9 year old Lab that has multiple fatty tumors that are growing so fast. In the last year one has grown from the size of a grape to the size of a lemon. He has one on his chest that is now the size of a grapefruit and has grown into his armpit and is impacting his movement. We have scheduled surgery to remove it in June. I really do not want to have to do surgery but the tumor is impacting his movement.

He is on filtered water, a good natural kibble diet, and fish oil. We use natural cleaning products and I am going to introduce natural flea control this summer. He does still get his vaccines at the vet.

I am planning to introduce the herbal remedies you suggest and also the vitamins to try to shrink some of his tumors.

A quick question about the herbal remedies. I see in the comments that you suggest adding them in one at a time after the vitamins. How much time did you let pass between?

Thank you again for this article!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Hi Erica. If you are interested, I have 2 blogs about vaccines. One is about vacccine duration and the second is about vaccine safety information.

I am happy to hear you will introduce natural flea control methods. Depending on what you plan to do, for instance you choose the flea shampoo made by a holistc vet and herbalist linked on my website, you may want to consider implementing strategies before flea season in your area starts to make sure your pet has the best chances of being flea free.

The one herbal remedy is topical so could definately try that along with the vitamins. As to how much time, each pet or person is different in where they are in their health and what they can tolerate so it will be vary. I personally always waited atleast 5 days before uping a dosage or introducing something new. Thank you for taking the time to read the blog, Comments and taking the time to comment! 🙂

      1. Erica

Thank you for your quick reply!

I’ll get all three herbal remedies and start with the last one you referenced in your blog first (the one you can put on the tumor). Then I’ll see how it goes before I introduce the other two. Really appreciate your insight!

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

You are very Welcome Erica. I would love to hear what progress you make in the next Month!

Hello I unfortunetly have a very old shitzue who has this problem I would like to know if a wheelchair will help, it makes me sad to see him try to jump but he is not able to . My vet told me if i got the wheelchair he would never be able to walk without it and its not a good idea, i would also like a second opinion on this. Sorry to be asking so many questions, but do you know and herbel remedies t make a home for my dog? Please anwser quickly, thank you ? ??

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I do not have any experience with wheelchairs. I have not made any remedies myself nor would I attempt it. However if you would like to try it, I would uggest you do not make alcohol based tinctures aka herbal remedies.

How would you dose the vitamin C to a dog?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I can not make personalized recommendations for your dog. However, I can say dosage will depend on your dogs weight and vitamin C is a vitamin you want to slowly up the dosage to ensure it does not cause diarrhea. Here is a dog supplement that already has vitamin C in it if you are interested. It will have dosage intructions right on the container. 🙂

Can I put this in her water?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Yes and no. It can not be put in a full bowl of water, only 2 ounces of water.

  28. Reyna A Trevino

My maltese has a benign mammary cyst… she is now 13 yrs old. When she was 2 yrs old she had a few taken out along with breast tissue. I want to try your remedy. She currently has a small heart murmur and on lasix and vetmadin..can she take these supplements with her heart medication?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I’m sorry to hear about your dogs cysts. Unfortunately I have no idea. My best advice is to ask a veterinary pharmacist or your vet to check for any interactions between the herbal remedies, vitamins and supplements suggested for lipomas.

  29. Nicole Zimmerman

    Hi,
I have a dog that has a large splenic mass. He got a large lymphoma removed which ended up putting him in the hospital from having underlying heart disease. Needless to say he needs another surgery to remove the splenic mass but I don’t know if he will make it. He is almost 13 yrs old. I have him on CBD and turkey tail mushroom. I am hoping we can get the mass to shrink so it doesn’t rupture. Have you heard of the products you suggested helping with any internal masses? I believe it is non cancerous but it has grown from 3cm x 3 cm to 12cm x 8cm in the last 1.5 years. Ill take any suggestions and ill try any natural product.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I can only answer you by sharing that I had internal cysts and my dogs fatty lump was near his spine. I shrunk his lipoma and I got rid of my multiple cysts by applying these methods.

      1. Nicole

Thanks. I also need to correct. The lump removed was a fatty mass. A lipoma not cancer. I will try to give him both.

      2. Nicole

Sorry.Last question. Do you suggest giving all herbal remedies and vitamins at the same time? Or do you only need one of the herbal remedies? I am willing to buy all 3 just want to get the right combo.

        1. Nicole

One more, how much of the self heal did you give your dog? I know you can’t post doses so I can figure it out from yours if you post the weight and amount. Thanks.

          1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I recommend getting all of them at 1 time. What I’ve seen with my friends and clients is if they trying to just get one or two they forget about the other ones and then have to ask me again. My thoughts are if you buy them at the same time that will prevent that from happening. ** However I always start with 1 or 2 and a small dosage so I can track the progress and if tolerated. Once I have established that, then I add in an additional remedey or supplement.

          2. Pearl

Hi, I noticed the Organic Dried Leaf extract is not alcohol free. Was this well received by your dog? Would it be okay to omit this from the remedy?

          3. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I doubled checked the links this morning and all of the herbal remedies are alcohol free per title and description. Also I looked at the pictures of the bottle label and without zooming in, the word aloha may be confused with alcohol since it has an exclamation point right after it. I use only alcohol free versions for people and pets!

I have a 9 year old Havanes she has had a fatty tumor removed before 3 years ago. It has come back and now she is unable to walk on her front right leg because it’s wrap up he muscles. So I just found out that my vet. Suggest to having her leg removed. I’m so confused to what’s best for her. She is in no pain but it’s hard to watch her hop around. I have tried everything on the market. She is due for surgery on feb.26th how long doe s it take to see results from the olive herb?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I don’t believe one herb by itself will show you the results you’re looking for. It is the combination of supplements AND FOOD. In part 2, You’ll see certain foods “feed” lipoma growth while others fight lilomas growth and help shrink it.

  34. Jim

My dog has a golf ball size lipoma on her side chest area . I have been reading your artical and I would like to know if all these herbal remedys
are taken at the same time or 1 at a time to see if they work ? Please help
    Thanks ,Jim

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

While they all can be added, I prefer to start slow. To be more specific I start with 1-2 supplements or remedies so I can tract the progress of what is working AND with small amounts. Once I know they are being tolerated well, I’ll slowly increase the amount for myself or my dog.

      1. Peggy

HI there- what is the recommended dosage?

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Bloggers are able to educate. It is often why you’ll see a disclaimer statement saying something like these our opinions and please consult your vet. With that said, Unfortunately there is no dosage recommendation I can give. Each pet will be different in their health issue and what they can tolerate. Only you and/or your vet know your pet best and would be able to make that determination.

          1. Peggy

            Thank joy!

          2. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Good news, I just posted two new versions of the herbal products that give dosing guidelines in the bottle!

I think i will try CurcuVet AND Pau D Arco .Does that sound like a good plan ? Trying to stop or shrink the fatty tumor. Thanks Jim

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I am not familiar with that product. Good news, I just posted two new versions of the products that give dosing guidelines. Additionally the second one has turmeric in it!

Hello and thank you! My Maltese has a huge lump on her stomach, we just got one removed last year and this one popped up even larger. I am so glad we found you so we can try some natural remedies before having her get surgery AGAIN. I am wondering what foods you would suggest to shrink the mass?

    Thanks again

Thank you for this post! Love your enthusiasm and passion for Pups!
I am a holistic animal specialist and rather frustrated and exhausted trying everything out there and even Vet shopping to get my sweet Beagle Boys’ mass to shrink!! No luck yet, somethings they’ve recommended have actually made it larger 🙁 it’s on his right chest…. Like a breast and due to the size it is now making him walk and stand like a bulldog.
Could you please respond if you have posted the follow-up, as the teaser suggested you would be posting soon. The only thing new to us is #3 herbal remedy, so we are on that now.
I’m fighting with asking the Vet for steroids because he also has been diagnosed with sinusitis. Poor sweet guy is just miserable.
Thanks for the update on herbs and spices to help shrink these awful things. Blessings and Bays

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I’m glad you enjoyed this post. I have not had an opportunity to finish part 2. Thank you for this article. I noticed a small bump in the rib area on my dogs right side a few weeks ago but it seems to come and go. He is a 10 lb Toy Fox Terrier and I would like to try some of these natural remedies but I am concerned since he is only 10 lbs the dosage I should use on these remedies. I noticed a few other people asked this also, but what dosage should you go by?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Good news, I just posted two new versions of the herbal products that give dosing guidelines on the bottle!

  38. Alexa

Would you recommend a combination of the lipoma reducing remedies? My dog is an 8 year old small mix breed.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Every dog will be different, just like humans, in what we can tolerate in regards to types of supplements and dosages. I always start slow with 1-2 supplement / vitamins so I can tract the progress of what is working AND with small doses. Then I work myself or dog up to the recommended dose. Sometimes too much of a good thing can be a bad thing or backfire meaning you could have a detox reaction and feel sick.

  39. Virginia

    Greetings from Downunder (NSW Australia)
I have my beautiful 16yr old Kelpie girl Abbey with rather a large suspected (by the vet) lipoma right on the top of her shoulder and I am always about natural remedies. She is already receiving Tumeric in her food daily to address arthritic issues and I am happy to do whatever is necessary to reduce this situation without putting her through the trauma and chemicals that surgery would impose upon her.

Other suggestions that I have noted are adding green tea to her water, Vit E and Yoghurt – all great additives.

I look forward to hearing more about herbal and spice remedies.

    many thank
    Virginia

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Hi Virginia. Greeting from California. Wow, I’m so happy to have a comment from Australia! In regards to dairy (from any animal), many dogs don’t do well on dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt). More importantly it can put a strain on the liver, digestive system and may “feed” the lipoma. Have you or will you try the suggestions listed in this blog?

  40. Michele

I have two Golden Retrievers and I give them supplements daily. My 9.5 year old has never had any problems but he does now have a few very small fatty lumps. I was going to try Frankincense Oil as my sister puts this on her Boxer’s cysts and they disappear. Any experience with this oil?

Thanks so much! Good look to everyone with their furry babies.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Michelle, I’m so sorry I missed replying to you. Unfortunately I have no experience with this oil. I have heard good things about it. Does your sister dilute it with a carrier oil? Again not experienced but I thought many have to be diluted and not placed full strength on the skin.

  41. Jets

Green juice” does not open the link. Please help. Just found a small mass on my Lhasa’s breast bone. Taking him to the Vet in an hour. Desperately need help to reduce the growth. Will ask the vet too if okay to use these!! Please help with the doses of the 3 herbs and 5 vitamins – thank you

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I’m sorry to hear you found a mass on your dog. The green juice link has been fixed, thank you for letting me know! Please consult your vet for proper dosage. I can say for #5 vitamin, a little goes along way.

  42. Jets

Can you please suggest the doses? My Lhasa is 24 pounds.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

How’s your Lhasa? Good I hope! I wanted to let you know today I posted two new versions of the herbal products which give dosing guidelines on the bottle!

  43. C Shigenaka

We just lost our oldest dog, to severe lipomas, which restricted his movements, causing deformation of his front legs and vet refused to remove them as he’d already had 5 large ones removed previously in two separate surgeries and they came back with a vengeance, we changed his diet, even putting him on a diet to try to cut back and shrink his tumors, sadly it didn’t work, he also suffered from severe arthritis and hip dysplasia with bone spurs in his sockets…I wish we’d found your site sooner ? Now I am concerned for my younger, smaller dog as I’ve found a lump on him, so will be getting an aspirate done on it soon and trying your recommendations here. Thank you for your research and sharing it <3

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

I’m sorry for your loss!! Thank you for your kind words and I hope things turn out well for your other dog.

I have a 9 year old black lab with a golf ball size Lipoma. I saw on your blog a few things to try. The herbal remedies. I’m confused on how much to give her and how to give it to him. She weighs 60 lbs. Thank You for your help, John Mitzel

Please help! My Pitt/lab has a mass on her chest. I have been giving her Salman and pumpkin abound Superfund dog food and giving her teaspoon of garlic, applecider vinegar 2 to 3 my and yogurt with turmeric and coconut oil in it. Also treat her every evening with castor oil rubbed all on the entire mass. Have not seen decoration of the mass yet, it has been 3 weeks now.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Many dogs do not do well on dairy. Have you tried any of the suggestions in my blog?

  46. JoAnn

My dog has a tumor on her neck beside her ear and it’s gotten biggest. at frist her vet said don’t worry that’s was a couple of years ago and it wasn’t cancerous but now her wants to remove it for 700.00. I’m on a limited income so do you think you products can help shrunk her tumor?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

JoAnn, All of the products are ones I used with my dog. His lipoma did not grow, in fact I was able to shrink it. In my article and here in the comments, you will see that some people have commented that their pets lipoma grew back after having it removed.

  47. Shaleen

Hi! Thank you for this wonderful article.

I took my dog to a Holistic Vet back in October, because I noticed a small bump on his gums right above his last molar. The Vet said it was a gum overgrowth and he didn’t know what had caused it. He followed with that he could easily remove it surgically. He told me I should try and get it done within 4-5 months.

After lots of reading. I decided that I would really like to avoid the surgery, especially since reading that for many dogs it can come right back.

I have been brushing his teeth a few times a week and sometimes apply colloidal silver (recommended by someone else) with a cotton swab.

My gut has continued to tell me that we can naturally help shrink it, so I’m really glad to have found this article.

I check on it at least once a week and it has not grown, so that is good.

Can the remedy posted above for oral health, help to shrink it? If so how do apply?

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Good morning Shaleen. If it were me, I would apply a small amount directly to the bump on his gums. Please keep in mind these can be caused by several contributing factors as outlined under causes for tumors and “reduce toxins to decrease dog lipomas.” How is your dogs diet?

      1. Shaleen

Good morning, he is on the prey model raw diet since we brought him home at 4 1/2 months old. He drinks filtered water and we only use natural cleaners like vinegar, baking soda and some essential oils to clean the house. I do know that he has had allergies to out door allergens, so I try to protect him as much as possiable.

Okay, so I will use the remedy suggested. Can I use a cotton swab to gently rub it on?

        Thank you very much.

        Kindly,
        Shaleen

My girl has a huge tumor on her inner thigh. It was surgically reduced in January 2017, but is back to the same size now. She’s been eating Taste of the Wild for years. Anyway, the herbal remedies and nutritional supplements mentioned above – could you provide an example of a daily regimen? Should I add all, or one of each? And do you have a sample menu of a raw food diet?

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Hi Angela, For pre-made food recommendations please see my holistic approach to dog cancer blog for suggestions. I also share some benefits of certain foods such as celery, apples or bananas on my Instagram As for supplements and vitamins, I had my dog on all 5 of the vitamins to create a good foundation and then implemented the herbal remedies one by one.

    2. Melanie

Hi Angela, my girl a 10 year old black lab has the same fatty tumor on her back left leg (inner thigh & putter thigh) it has been aspirated and benign. It is very tight and beginning to make it hard to get up stairs. Our vet sent us to a surgeon to get the test done because they weren’t sure they’d be able to get the actual results due to it being around the muscles etc.
If you would please update on how your girl has been doing and what you have been doing for her. My girl is about 72 pounds.
Thanks so much & Happy 2018.

    3. Nadene

My dog is 13 year old springer spaniel 80 pounds has lipomas can’t walk real well due to lipomas and is blind. I want to know amounts and how often to give if with every meal yes he is in a diet lost some weight but I just do not want him to suffer

  49. Michelle

Great article! Will this help my dog Rico with an abscess he has on his gums? It hasn’t hinder with his eating or playing with toys, but I’m concerned that it might get worse.

    1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

Hi Michelle, I’m sorry you’re worried but I’ll do my best to ease your mind with some information and options. May I ask did a vet confirm it is an abscess? I ask because their can be something called an epulis. An epulis can be a non-cancerous bump but to confirm you would need your vet to perform an aspirate. An aspirate is quick and simple procedure where they take a fluid sample, using a needle, from the bump so they can look at the fluid under a microscope.

In this article, you’ll see an one of the herbal remedies I listed is good for oral health. If it is an epulis, you can give your dog this remedy. *The dosage will be dependent on your dogs weight.* Another option is you could rub coconut oil on his gums since it is anti-bacterial and antimicrobial and it can used as a natural toothpaste if you brush his teeth.

      1. Michelle

I’ll have to look into the aspirate procedure. However, in the meantime, I might try one of the herbal remedies in your article, and the coconut oil. Thanks for the great advice!

        1. Happy Trails & Wag'n Tails

You’re welcome. I hope it helps and would love to hear an update.
